Spring Blooms at the Macy’s Flower Show

Macy's Flower ShowEvery spring, Macy’s on State Street bursts and blooms with the spirit of the season. During the annual Macy’s Flower Show, expert florists adorn the entire store with flowers from around the world – from Palace Roses to Hinoki Cypresses. A wonderful array of free workshops and related events rounds out the flowery fun. This year’s show, Secret Garden, will usher in spring with a lovely in-store garden filled with secrets and surprises on Sunday, March 23 – Sunday, April 6.

My kids have always loved shopping for spring clothes and shoes at a Macy’s filled to the brim with lovely, scented flowers, and the excellent programming, for adults and kids, makes a visit to Macy’s during the Spring Flower Show a must-do. Be sure to visit the Event Center on the 9th floor, where artist Shaun Hays, a chalk art master, will be creating an amazing 3D illusion over the course of several days: Visit often to see his progress and take pictures with the finished masterpiece. On March 25, at noon, artist Sevin Surucu will also be on hand at the 9th floor Event Center, to demonstrate the authentic, ancient Turkish art of Watermarbling, a unique art form produced by sprinkling color pigments into a trough of oily water, known as “size”, and utilizing special brushes to create various designs that are then transferred onto a sheet of paper or other surface.
