Development Update: After Years Of Planning, Wolf Point Construction Finally Begins

March 30, 2014

Nearly seven years after the Kennedy family first proposed the development of a three tower megaproject on Wolf Point, the outcropping of land at the confluence of the Chicago River, construction is finally underway. Some thought it would never happen, and others hoped it never would, but here we are. Just yesterday, caisson drilling rigs showed up on the site and have begun drilling the holes deep into the earth that will form the foundation of the first of the towers. It’s official now. Whew! Once the first phase is completed, the west tower will be a 493 foot, 48 story apartment tower designed by Chicago firm bKL, who last year completed the modernist Coast residential tower next door to Aqua in Lake Shore East. At least 500 units are expected.
