Beat the Heat with these Cool Summer Camps in McHenry County

Summer Camp at The YSoon the final school bell will ring and children will be out for summer, which means that now is the time to start registering your children for summer camp. Just 90 minutes northwest of Chicago, McHenry County features lakes and nature trails that are perfect for exploring this summer.

Sage YMCA:  Located in Crystal Lake, Sage YMCA of Metro Chicago offers a variety of weekly day camps for children ages three to eighth grade. Activities offered during day camp include swimming lessons, sports, character development (honesty, caring, respect and responsibility), art, disc golf, archery (campers fifth grade and older), special events, outdoor exploration, field trips and much more. In addition to its weekly summer camp, the Sage YMCA will offer specialty camps such as Cheerleading/Pom Pons Camp/Dance, Mega Sports Camp, Archery Camp, Tennis Camp and What’s Cookin’ Camp. YMCA Camp Duncan: Located just outside of McHenry County in Fox Lake, Illinois, Camp Duncan has provided overnight summer camp experiences since 1921. Ran by the YMCA of Greater Chicago, Camp Duncan offers quality camping programs for boys and girls ages seven to 15 and Teen Adventure Camps for 15 to 17 year olds. McHenry County Conservation District: Throughout the hot summer months, the McHenry County Conservation District invites campers to join them for fishing, arts & crafts, camping and much more. From five- and six-year-olds getting a taste of the day camp experience to 12 and 15 year olds enjoying an overnight campout, there is something for all ages. Camps are filling up fast, so parents must act quickly to register their children for a McHenry County Conservation District summer camp. McHenry County College: Sponsored by the McHenry County College (MCC) Athletics Department, children of McHenry County can improve their basketball and soccer skills by training with MCC coaching staff at camp this summer. Basketball camp will be held from June 16 through 19, soccer camp from July 14 through 17 and soccer striker and goalkeeper camp from July 21 through 24.
