May 20, 2014

Pritzker Military LibraryThe Pritzker Military Museum & Library is one of Chicago’s most unique and off-the-beaten path museums. Just steps from Millennium Park and the Art Institute, it’s worth visiting for its unique collection and rotating, acclaimed exhibits, all housed in the historic Monroe Building. This upcoming Memorial Day weekend, the museum has a number of events planned to honor the courage of our nation’s service men and women.

On Saturday, May 24, the museum invites all veterans to walk in and share their stories as part of their oral history recording sessions. All day long, the museum will also be hosting a military movie marathon. At 10:30 a.m., Jennifer Holik, genealogist and author of Stories of the Lost, will be presenting a lecture related to her book. Admission is free for everyone. This special day of activities coincides with the City of Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade, which will travel down State St. from Lake to Van Buren.
