Chicago is the birthplace of the modern skyscraper and home to many eye-popping towers and structures designed by star architects. From the earliest starchitects to today’s hometown heavyweights like Jeanne Gang, Adrian Smith and Helmut Jahn, it is safe to say that Chicago has produced some of the world’s most important figures in the history of architecture. Although Chicago isn’t building at the pace of New York City, our fair city certainly sports some structures that can hold their own against any in the world. For our list, we stuck with buildings completed in the last ten years, and developments that are currently under construction or in advanced planning stages. So without further adieu (and in no particular order), Curbed presents 15 pieces of Chicago’s most eye-popping pieces of starchitecture.
