Bootleg Homes: Clone of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House Wants $825K

November 02, 2014

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and this far North Side home has more than certainly borrowed its design inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous Robie House in Hyde Park. However, this home may be more livable than its century-old idol as after all, it is a newer house. Built in the late ’80s, the home copies Wright’s long, flat roof lines and window placement, but it’s missing the art glass windows and built ins. The postmodern era of the ’80s was known for bringing ornamentation back into the mainstream and for paying homage to older architectural styles, and while this home is not necessarily a loud postmodern home, it’s somewhat of a neo-eclectic homage to Chicago’s famous Prairie School. It can be had for $825,000.
