Celebrity Real Estate: Soft Rocker Richard Marx Lists Palatial Mansion for $18M

November 21, 2014

Soft rock extraordinaire Richard Marx listed his ginormous Lake Bluff home yesterday for the stately sum of $18 million. You might remember Marx from his classic ballads “Right Here Waiting” and “Now and Forever” or from singing the Star-Spangled Banner at the 1994 World Cup right here in Chicago. But those tunes clearly paid off, and Marx squirreled away some of his cash in this 30,000 square foot lakefront home designed by David Adler. According to the Tribune, Marx and his wife purchased the home in 1997 for $4.7 million. In usual Adler fashion, this Georgian style home has a European feel to it, almost like a miniature version of the Palace of Versailles or something. Alright, well not quite, but you get the point. The home has seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and features a whopping total of 19 fireplaces. It also includes a theater room and an 8,000 square foot recording studio, in case you wanted to write and record some sweet love songs. And if you’reexperiencing writer’s block, head out back towards the lakefront for some inspiration.
