Lakeview is one of the most quintessential North Side neighborhoods. The area itself is quite large and contains some of Chicago’s most iconic pocket neighborhoods including Wrigleyville, Boystown and the Southport Corridor. Every year thousands of Chicagoans flock to the neighborhood the annual Pride Parade and to attend Cubs games at Wrigley Field. However, there was some debate this year on moving the Pride Parade downtown and there was considerable debate and even some legal challenges revolving around the renovations at Wrigley Field. However, construction is underway at the Friendly Confines and the team will have a different looking ballpark by Opening Day next year.

One of the biggest stories to look out for next year is the Obama Foundation’s decision on where to locate the future presidential library and museum, and so far, Hyde Park’s University of Chicago is certainly viewed as one of the favorites. The school has been working behind the scenes for most of this year on putting together a plan to bring the museum to the South Side, and has also been on a purchasing spree of property around its campus. Whether or not the Obama Library makes its way down to Hyde Park, the area has some big projects coming up, including the Studio Gang designed City Hyde Park, the new METROsquash facility and the mixed-use Vue53 development.
