A Weekend Affair to Remember: Exploring Chicago

Weekend Ahead Another weekend is approaching in Chicago, and residents are beginning to make plans to meet with their friends and family all over the city. Living in Chicago, there are many events constantly going on. Sometimes, it might seem confusing where to go for a fun night out on the town. Known for its diverse and quirky atmosphere, Andersonville was ranked number seven on Redfin’s 10 Hottest Neighborhoods in 2015. This fun neighborhood is not only a great place to visit on the weekend, but also a great place to live.

Andersonville is known for its diversity and quirky atmosphere. This Swedish-rooted neighborhood has become very popular not only to visit, but to live in as well. With more locally owned businesses than commercial-chain stores, Andersonville has an eclectic mix of bakeries, boutiques, galleries and more. Visitors can enjoy the diverse selections Clark Street’s “restaurant strip” has to offer including the craft brew selections at Hopleaf Bar, comfort food at Big Jones and delicious hamburgers at Hamburger Mary’s.

Great food isn’t all that Andersonville has to offer. The community features Chicago real estate that is affordable and conveniently located near several fun weekend activities. Check out some of the events going on this weekend around Andersonville.

On Feb. 20, pH Productions presents West High. Showing at The pH Comedy Theater, attendees can go back to high school in this western comedy about a mysterious new student at West High. This is one hilarious show you do not want to miss! Tickets may be purchased online or at the door for $15. Located off W. Berwyn Ave, this comedy theater is just a short walk away for residents living in Andersonville.

Also conveniently located at The pH Comedy Theater, watch your favorite childhood games come to life at Game Night. On Feb. 21, actors will improve games such as Battleship, Chess, Clue or party games such as 7 Minutes in Heaven and Telephone. With a different cast and game every week, which hilarious act will you be a part of? Get your tickets today for just $15.

Beginning on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., you can participate in Chicago’s biggest Mardi Gras Party. Located just 15 minutes south of Andersonville at Navy Pier, The World’s Largest Indoor Bar Crawl presents Mardi Gras Crawl. With eight bars along Navy Pier, attendees can enjoy not only great, affordable drinks but can also experience amazing entertainment including live music, mask face-painting, games, prizes, Ferris wheel rides and more. Tickets cost $25 and must be purchased before the event. From Andersonville, take U.S.41 south to Lower North Lake Shore Drive. Then, take the Grand Avenue exit to E. Illinois Street and E. Grand Avenue and you will arrive at Navy Pier.
