Property Tax Appeal Due Tomorrow!

March 02, 2015

Property Tax (2)Tomorrow, March 3, is the day your property tax appeal is due for your Chicago home. You have either mailed in your information or completed the steps online. Now you ask yourself, what is the next step? The answer is wait. The Assessor’s office will review your appeal and the results will arrive by mail.

What happens if your appeal gets denied? If you want to continue pursuing the appeal, there are other avenues available to you.

If you are interested in appealing the Assessor’s decision, please click here to read information on the process.

It is very important to still pay your first property tax installment by the March 1 deadline since it is 55 percent of your 2014 total bill. The amount for your second installment will not be determined until the Board of Review has completed reviewing all of the appeals. Once a decision has been made by the Board of Review, you will then receive the second property tax installment bill.

Remember, there is a chance you will not have to explore other appeal options. Watch your mail for the results and hope that you are successful with the first appeal.
