September 22, 2015

Smartphone with text screenIn this day and age everything is built around technology.  If you have a smartphone, you know there is an app for almost everything. And I am sure you know there are apps that can help you buy or sell a home in Chicago metropolitan area.  With the help of these top real estate and home improvement apps, this process is right at your fingertips. The goal is simply to make buying or selling real estate around Chicagoland so easy!

Trulia: This free, top rated real estate app can make home searching stress free. One of the best features of this app is that homebuyers and sellers can learn everything about an area, from the top-rated schools, local amenities, and median sales prices from color-coded heat maps. You can save all your searches, share your favorite homes with family and friends, or contact an agent right from the app. Alerts are received when a home you like goes on the market. Consumers’ favorite feature of the app is the ability to see the price reduction history of the different properties they viewed.

ZILLOW: Zillow is one of the top free real estate apps. Whether you are looking to buy or sell, Zillow can help. This app searches nearby houses currently on the market, prices, and home sales in your neighborhood. If you are selling your home this information can help determine your selling price and help set it correctly so it isn’t too high or too low. As a home seller, it is a great idea to look at your home on Zillow to make sure the price online matches what you are really asking for.

For buyers, Zillow can help you search by a map or address.  You can use the filters to help narrow your search down by price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and other preferences. If you see a property that interests you, you can share it with your real estate agent. One of the many great features of the Zillow App is Zestimate, which gives buyers an estimated market value for a specific home. This is a good starting point for any buyer.

Houzz: One of the best apps for home improvements, Houzz is a free app that helps sellers look at pictures of homes and decorating in order to make upgrades to the interior of their Chicago home prior to putting it on the market. From the best paint colors to the most beneficial updates, this app shows the hottest trends and ideas to help a seller visualize living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. You can even contact home improvement professionals right from the app.

MORTGAGE CALCULATOR: Another perfect free app for the Chicago homebuyer is the Mortgage Calculator. This tool helps the user to understand the requirements for mortgage repayment. Based on the information you enter, the app calculates your monthly mortgage payment. With a consumer rating of five stars, the Mortgage Calculator app is a must have for any homebuyer.

HAMMERPOINT: Before listing your home in Chicago, take a look around to see if it needs any upgrades. Updated bathrooms and kitchens are essential to making a great return on investment, but how much will this cost? Hammerpoint can help. This free app can estimate the cost of any project.  The app is easy to navigate through and once you are finished your estimate is emailed to you as a PDF.
