Pick out your pumpkins at Didier Farms in Lincolnshire from the end of September thru October 31.

If you are looking for good, old-fashioned fall fun in the northern Chicago area, check out Didier Farms in Lincolnshire. Only a five-minute drive from the Buffalo Grove community, Didier Farms offers autumn activities for the whole family. Family owned and operated since 1912, the farm includes a greenhouse and a farmstand.

The farm holds an annual Pumpkinfest from the last week in September through October 31. This family-friendly festival has something for everyone, including delicious food, arts, crafts, and carnival rides. Children can enjoy pony and camel rides. There is also a Ferris wheel, a carousel, and a giant, pumpkin-shaped bounce house. Visitors can take a ride on the Strawberry Spin or the Scrambler before heading over to the Pumpkin Playland for even more playtime. As an added treat, children in costume on Halloween will receive a free Halloween treat bag and the opportunity to go trick-or-treating around the farm.

Additional activities at Didier Farms include a gem-mining sluice, where visitors can pan for gems and take home any treasures they might find. A tractor-drawn hayride carries guests around the farm through tall cornstalks and happy scarecrows. For even more fall fun, guests are invited to get lost in the corn maze or buy a beautiful pumpkin.

Dining options available at Didier Farms include premium Wisconsin ice cream and Didier Farms’ specialty apple cider cinnamon. The Pumpkin Patch Café offers pizza, fresh glazed pumpkin donuts and traditional festival food such as hot dogs and nachos. The Candy Corn Crib features fresh Didier Farms sweet corn roasted to perfection, and Richmond’s famous Anderson’s Candy makes an appearance with sweets like almond bark and toffee.

Didier Farms is open all week long from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., so there is plenty of time to enjoy the Pumpkinfest concessions along with the delicious, locally grown produce sold at the farmstand. Here visitors will find tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, eggplant, squash, and various sweet and hot peppers. There are also homemade items for sale such as fresh baked pies, cider and jellies. As a special fall treat, the farmstand features tasty pumpkin donuts.

Guests interested in growing their own produce can check out Didier Farms’ greenhouse, which opens for the season in April, and provides everything needed to grow a lush, green garden! This year the greenhouse will have a special Ketchup N’ Fries tomato plant available, which grows tomatoes in the summer and potatoes in the fall, all from the same plant!

Didier Farms is located at 16678 West Aptakisic Road in Lincolnshire, part of Chicago’s northern suburbs. If you’re looking to buy Chicago real estate but don’t want to be right in the heart of the city’s bustle, Lincolnshire and the nearby city of Buffalo Grove offer a convenient drive to Chicago but with all the benefits of the suburbs.
