Orren Pickell Wins Crystal for Highland Park Sports Addition

November 17, 2010

Chicagoland Real Estate Forum congratulates Orren Pickell Designers & Builders for winning a Crystal Key Award in the category of “Unique and Creative Use” for the addition of a sports court in a Highland Park home.

An active, athletic family was interested in expanding the size of their existing home to accommodate a full-size sports court with all the amenities. The design includes an exercise room with a full-height glass wall overlooking the sports court, and a luxurious locker room that caters to children and adults. The rooftop garden is a private terrace off the master suite and includes a custom limestone fireplace. The sports court includes three basketball hoops and a full-length baseball batting cage.

The homeowners’ interior designer, John Robert Wiltgen, was instrumental in the planning of this new space, and his team worked closely with the Orren Pickell Design Group to ensure the family’s needs were considered with every feature of the 4,600-square-foot addition.

The exterior of the addition blends seamlessly with the existing residence, an absolute requirement for the homeowners and a trademark of the talented design team at Orren Pickell.

This close-knit family can now enjoy their full-court activities with each other and friends, regardless of the Midwest’s uncertain weather.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards were created in 1972 to recognize excellence in housing design, architecture, interior merchandising, remodeling and landscaping. It has since evolved into one of the premier housing programs in the country.
