NAHB Green Building Conference Worth the Trip

April 20, 2012

The nation continues to go green and home builders have been at the forefront of the changing times in order to sustain not only their businesses, but the environment as well.

As the Chicago housing market becomes more proactive in using green technology and sustainable resources for building homes, an exciting new conference highlights the growing trend of going green.

Go Green EarthThe National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 2012 National Green Building Conference and Expo will address a multitude of issues to educate and inform builders on how to effectively construct green homes.

The event, taking place April 29 – May 1 in Nashville, Tenn., will feature an exhibit hall showcasing the newest green products, a variety of educational courses to help builders better understand and implement green technology, a fantastic collection of speakers and, of course, an unparallelled opportunity to network.

The National Green Building Conference and Expo will feature two new offerings this year sure to inspire the home building industry with insightful strategies for navigating the thriving green housing market.

The new additions are:

  • Analysis of the Green Market—McGraw-Hill Construction, NAHB and Waste Management, Inc. will showcase the results of a new Smart Market Report on Residential Green Building. The report highlights the growth of green building and provides building professionals with insight into potential market opportunities, consumer preferences and industry trends.
  • Green Building Plan Review—Attendees will have the opportunity to review their building plans with an architect, an accredited verifier for the National Green Building Certification Program and a home builder.

Even though the conference is being held in Nashville, it is worth the trip for any Chicagoland builder interested in learning about the most cutting-edge green products and ideas. As the options to go green for existing homes in the Chicago real estate market expands due to energy efficient upgrades and new homes are increasingly built with an emphasis on environmental safe construction and utilities, the time is ripe for Chicagoland home builders to take advantage of the green initiative.

While Nashville is a bit of a road trip, builders, remodelers and developers throughout Illinois should make the trek to the 2012 National Green Building Conference and Expo. Just make sure you take the hybrid for the journey.
