New NAHB Website Focuses on Threats to Homeownership

ProtectHomeownership GraphicThe National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has launched a new website to shine a light on threats to homeownership.

The website,, focuses on the many threats facing homeowners and the housing industry such as:

  • The push to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction.
  • Policies that would make mortgages and small business loans unaffordable and even more difficult to obtain.
  • The lack of credit for acquisition and development of land and construction (AD&C financing) of new homes available to builders.
  • The problem of foreclosures and how they affect appraisals.

“American families aspire to homeownership because they know that it promotes stability and is critical in creating wealth and providing upward mobility and financial security for families. Equally important, homeownership supports the economy by creating jobs,” said NAHB Chairman Barry Rutenberg. “Government policies that negatively impact families’ ability to own a home would be devastating for home owners, the housing market and the nation’s economy.” uses FAQ, poll data, economic analysis and reports to clearly illustrate the threats facing homeownership in the country.
