In or Out of Chicago Real Estate, Weekend Bound to be Grand

This weekend is a good time to get out of your metro Chicago real estate and enjoy all that the area has to offer, including other amazing metro Chicago real estate.

The town of Libertyville is hosting “A Walk Down Broadway,” a walking tour of some of the historic homes in the northwest suburb.

There are 16 houses and a church on the walk. Seven of the homes will allow participants to view part of the interior. There will also be several gardens open to view.

The tour is free, but House Walk participants can purchase a booklet listing all of the houses with histories and architectural descriptions for a $10 donation to MainStreet Libertyville.

A Walk Down Broadway is set for Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and begins in Cook Park, 413 N. Milwaukee, Libertyville.

*Lurie Garden Plant Sale and Festival: The Lurie Garden, at Monroe and Columbus in the Loop, is hosting this event, which will feature perennials chosen for their adaptability to Chicago’s four-season climate. There will also be garden tours, kids crafts, honey tasting and more on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your own boxes to transport the plants; proceeds support the garden’s programming.

*Do-Division Street Fest & Sidewalk Sale: This 6th annual event spans 10 city blocks and features live music, family entertainment, crafts, local vendors and a Family Fun Fest. Hours are Friday, June 1, 5 to 10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3, noon to 10 p.m. at Division St. and Leavitt Ave. in Chicago. A suggested $5 donation would cover admission.

*57th Street Art Fair: Chicago’s oldest juried art fair will feature more than 250 artists booths along 57th Street between Kenwood and Kimbark in Chicago’s historic Hyde Park neighborhood on Saturday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

*Hyde Park Community Art Fair: While you’re in Hyde Park over the weekend, check out this fair at Bixler Park, 57th and Kenwood, Chicago, where over 90 artists, many from the Chicago area, will be exhibiting and selling their work.

*Eastside Millennium Art Festival: This celebration of art showcases the original works of acclaimed artists, plus art demonstrations, live music and more on Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Street and Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

*Deerfield Festival of Fine Arts: This 10th annual event features 100 registered artists, plus live music, food and more on Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Park Avenue, just north of Deerfield Road in Deerfield.

*Dandelion Wine Arts Festival: The 13th annual Ray Bradbury’s Dandelion Wine Fine Arts Festival will feature art, music, dance, workshops, demonstrations and more on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Waukegan’s Bowen Park.

*Family Adventure Day: This event celebrates nature in the city and will include hikes, fort building, mud painting, kite flying and more at Northerly Island, 1400 S. Linn White Dr., Chicago, on Sunday, June 3 from noon to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
