Retire in style with Chicago real estateA quiet North Shore village just a 40 minute train ride from Chicago was recently named one of the top 25 places to retire rich by Forbes magazine. The town of Winnetka is a picturesque affluent community – so idyllic, it has also served as location for a number of films and T.V. shows, including the “Home Alone” series.

Winnetka has been a retirement magnet for a while, and more than one-eighth of the population of 12,000 are at or above age 65 with homes prices averaging around $800,000. The community has earned positions on other top lists, including top earning towns, and it’s easy to see why with a median income of $200,000. The community also made it onto the list because of its proximity to strong cultural and medical facilities, its scenic beauty and ambiance. Other well-known retirement spots making the list include Chevy Chase, Maryland and Darien, Connecticut.

There are plenty of opportunities to join this prestigious community where you can live your silver years enjoying comfortable real estate in Chicago. Just a quick search on Zillow or Realtor.com reveals more than 200 available homes from under $100,000 to nearly $22 million!
