January 07, 2015

Liberty Trails“You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall? The most famous reindeer of  all?” That’s right! There’s still time to see Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in McHenry County. Just attend the annual exhibit hosted by the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. today through January 9.

Marking the 75th anniversary of the famous reindeer’s creation, learn the history of Rudolph and see extraordinary memorabilia from the collection of Dave Harms of Crystal Lake. The Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Exhibit showcases character blankets, shirts, furniture, a wooden riding stick, a papier-mâché Rudolph head and even a vintage, coin-operated ride! Make a donation to the Society, and take a photo on or near this motorized Rudolph. For more information about the exhibit, call 815-923-2267.

After seeing how Rudolph’s nose glows, take a visit to one of Gerstad Builders’ nearby communities. Priced from $198,900 to $308,490, Liberty Trails’ McHenry County new homes are a must-see.
